Where can I buy blu ray discs, and how much can I expect to pay for them?

As blu ray technology grows in popularity and more people are discovering its benefits, a greater number of sellers and stockists are getting on board the blu ray phenomenon. You are able to buy blu ray discs from almost all the traditional places that you would buy movies and TV shows from (video stores, gift shops and even some supermarkets).

A real sign of the times, however, is how widely available blu ray disc movies are on the internet. Sites like eBay lead the way, but there are plenty of dedicated blu ray movie stores waiting for your order.

You can expect to pay a little more than the cost of a DVD. The price of blu ray will certainly come down over the next year or so, but at the moment you will probably pay $25 to $30 for standard blu ray discs.

How much data can you fit on a blu ray disc?

There are two basic types of blu ray discs currently available on the market. A single-layer disc can hold up to 25GB of data, while a dual-layer disc can hold up to 50GB of data.

In future, it is expected that the storage capacity of blu ray will be extended to 200GB!
